 OUR POLICIES, TERMS AND CONDITIONS

We have several policies at Playdays, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Child Protection, Special Educational needs, Behaviour etc., and these are available at any time for parents to read.  We also have designated members of staff with special responsibilities, these are:  Child Protection and Designated safeguarding leads – Mrs. Winter and Mrs Chattin SEN Co-ordinator – Mrs. Lander.

We have a settling-in policy which is displayed with all the policies and procedures on the notice board.

We fully appreciate it is distressing for any parent to leave their child upset, but we have a rule that if we cannot distract or comfort your child within 10 minutes then we will contact you.  Many children at some stage of their development have separation anxiety, but by working together we can make it as brief as possible.

The Manager and staff are available to parents at any time and if you have any problem at all please let us know, we have facilities to speak to parents privately and if we have any concerns about your child we will let you know.

BEHAVIOUR

We do have a written behaviour policy which any parent is welcome to see.  We encourage and promote good behaviour and manners as a sign of consideration to others.  We have few rules for the children, these are:  They do not run when tables and equipment are out as this causes accidents.  They do not hit or take toys away from other children.  They respect the equipment and surrounds at Playdays.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Our festivals are predominately Christian – where appropriate to the age of the child, but we aim to make our children aware of the ideas, beliefs and values of other cultures as well as their own – again where appropriate.  Regular festival celebrations are: Diwali, Chinese New Year and EID, we also celebrate Christmas and Patron Saints of the British Isles.  If you wish to withdraw your child from these celebrations please see the Manager.  We also follow the fundamental British Values, these can be seen displayed on our board in setting.  We do have a policy on religious education which is displayed on the board with the other policies.  We also ask that parents state on the application form their religion.  This is just to ensure that we cover religious festivals which are pertinent to all children in our group.

TOILET TRAINING

We are very happy to change your child or take them to the toilet.  However if a child refuses to be helped or changed, please be aware that we cannot make them.  If this causes a problem we will contact you.

ILLNESS

If your child is ill whilst at Playgroup we will contact you straight away.  Please keep us up to date on phone number changes, both land phone and mobile phone.  If your child has an infectious illness i.e. Chickenpox, please ring and let us know.  If your child has sickness or diarrhoea, please keep them off until 24 hours after their last bout.  We have an accident book, where if your child has an accident, bumped head etc., the incident will be recorded, the action taken recorded and signed by a member of staff and the parent is also requested to sign

If your child needs medicine i.e. asthma inhalers, please label these with the child`s name and write a letter giving permission and instructions and this will also be entered into a separate book and signed.

SECURITY.

If anyone other than yourself is picking your child up from Playdays, please let a member of staff know.  We will not under any circumstances allow children to leave with anyone we do not know or have not been informed about.  So please be sure to tell us, we do not wish to offend anyone, but the safety of the children is our primary concern.
